Vintage Danish Sterling Silver Neck Collar and Bracelet by Aage Weimar
Rare massive, solid, sterling silver neck collar and matching bracelet, designed and made by Aage Weimar.
An extraordinarily rare and unique piece by Aage Weimar born in Copenhagen in 1902. His father was the famous Evald Nielsen, a contemporary to Georg Jensen. Many believe that Nielsen was actually a superior silversmith to Jensen. Aage was trained in Denmark and worked in the Jensen shops before striking out on his own
This is a museum quality piece, and very likely one-of-a-kind. It is solid sterling silver (not hollow-ware), made by hand. Both the neck ring and matching bracelet cuff are worn by twisting open the arm to put it on. Once on, it looks like one solid ring. Extremely difficult to achieve, this piece looks like it was made right on the wearer, very much like an ancient Greek or Egyptian neck ring.
